First 10 Minutes:
Intro and Warmup
Get everyone in a circle, introduce yourselves, and set the vibe. Let them know the goal is building safe foundations. Run a dynamic warmup with a heavy focus on wrist circles, shoulder rotations, thoracic spine openers, and waking up the core.
10 to 20 Minutes:
The First Pullup
Show the difference between active and passive bar hangs. Have them practice scapular shrugs to feel the initial pull. Pair them up for banded pullups or box-assisted slow negatives. Watch to ensure they are depressing their shoulders and keeping a tight core without using momentum.
20 to 30 Minutes:
Skin the Cat Basics
Time to get them used to being upside down. Start with German hang stretches on low rings or a low bar with feet on the floor. Move to tucked active hangs, driving knees to the chest. Demonstrate how to spot safely, then let them try a spotted tuck inversion to pull their hips over their shoulders.
30 to 40 Minutes:
Swing Technique
Start on the floor to drill the hollow body and superman arch positions. Move to the bar to practice shifting from an active hang into the hollow and arch shapes. Add in small beat swings. Remind them the power comes from their shoulders and core, not just kicking their legs.
40 to 50 Minutes:
Intro to Handstands
Run through a quick second wrist warmup. Have them stand tall on the floor and hit the hollow body alignment so they know how a handstand should feel. Pair them up at a wall for chest-to-wall handstands using the wall walk-up method. Cue them to push tall through their shoulders and tuck their ribs in.
50 to 55 Minutes:
Basic Statics
Keep this light since fatigue will be setting in. Show a frog stand or crow pose to build balance confidence on their hands. Introduce L-sit progressions starting with seated tuck holds on the floor or parallettes.
55 to 60 Minutes:
Cooldown and Handoff
Bring the heart rate down with gentle stretches for the lats, chest, and wrists. Open it up for a quick Q&A. Grab a group photo to celebrate, then release them to enjoy the rest of the event.
